Personally, I would have liked the new turret icons to stay, but to have backdrops like the ship and drone icons it was attempting to mirror. You know, the only other two items that also have a 3D presence in-game that feature rendered icons, as well. I personally like the fact that each turret is unique, instead of all turrets of the same size class looking exactly the same as an icon. Again, like the Captain's Quarters and the return of Ship Spinning, it should be optional, if possible.
A colorful backdrop (maybe circular or rounded corners, and colored based on race like the ship/drone ones), at least when displayed next to the target boxes next to the Selected Item window, would help them stand out in the places where people seemed the most perturbed about the new icons...
But whatever. Doesn't matter much to me, either way. I suppose most generally use one type of a given size class, anyway..?
As a side note, I've actually docked, done my business, and undocked long before the 'station environment' finished loading quite a few times, now, thanks to the removed session timer. |

Elvin Gizza wrote:It is a start, i won't thank you for returning the old icons, as it was clearly a mistake putting in new ones. But with these rollback i hope and pray it is the start of ccp focusing more on eve.
I look forward to see ship spinning and a cargohold window that will stay open again
O/ I still don't think it was- they were just following the standard established with ship and drone icons, since turrets actually look unique, finally. They just needed to implement it with a background or backdrop like the ship and drone icons (if possible, it could be conditional based on where it was used, so it would be noticeable by the target indicators for those who can't see them, but wouldn't clutter up the fitting window or such). That was the biggest mistake, not using new icons, to me. |

However, my point was they never bothered to create a 'new' effect (until now, it seems), they just used the new gate-jump effect for all jumps, regardless of capital cyno or stargate use. |

Vincent Athena wrote:Question for CCP: Right now when we are on the balcony we see a hangar space that looks quite different from the hanger spaces we were seeing pre-incarna. With the coming return of ship spinning, which hangar space will the ship-only view be in, the new one or the old one? If its the old one, then that is rather immersion breaking. Somehow the hanger magically changes in the blink of the eye when I leave the ship. As far as I know, it actually isn't different from pre-Incarna. |

Nth Ares wrote:The turret icon revert, also a good idea. Icons should not be about detailed graphics, they work best as abstractions; they exist for the sake of user efficiency. What about ship and drone icons, then? Those are rendered on-the-fly first time they're seen just like the current 'new' turret icons. The only noticeable difference is the ship and drone icons have colored backgrounds..? |

Carmen Estacado wrote:When you implemented CQ, the official reason for why small ships are dynamically being moved closer to the runway, was that people couldn't see all the detail of said ships otherwise. Now that ship spinning is back and we can look at those ships from all sides and can zoom in as much as we want, can we expect a different behavior in CQ mode? The advantage of the 3rd person view is being able to get a sense of scale... but as it is, this is not possible. There are two ways of achieving this: The simple one is placing them all at the same spot. The superior one would be placing them all right next to the runway in such a way that the hull is always the same distance away and extending the runway so that we can walk the length of the ship... in other words: Having a ship that's actually docked and not just floating around somewhere. As it stands, they float and slowly rotate around from the view on the balcony ... I suppose when they have time they should add the ability to walk alongside the ship like that, though... and of course stop it from rotating. But as it stands, there's lots better uses of their time than adding WiS content, like rebalancing nullsec or hybrids or what have you. |

BugraT WarheaD wrote:Just to know : Could we have simply a "Enter Incarna" Button while docked rather than a game option preference ? Read the Blog. It says it won't be a game option preference. It'll presumably be an interface button, as yet hidden, if the screen shots are an indication (maybe it's currently a right-click option..?). |

iudex wrote:Ok grats. And when will you bring back the faction standing visibility in the character info ? Thought they removed that for privacy purposes or whatever (not sure on the specific reasoning, but it seemed to be about sensitive information akin to skill points that they finally decided to make private)? You can still see yours in the character sheet. I do like how they've redone the display for a given NPC faction's standings tab, though. |
